Abstract: This thesis examines the feasibility of communal information sharing between mobile devices using a distributed architecture for the underlying database topology, through research aimed at satisfying two primary objectives: i. Examination and review of available technologies and products currently supporting distributed mobile database functionality, and ii. Development of a prototype groupware solution utilising distributed database synchronisation to implement information- sharing functions.
